Hiroshima gourmet food is okonomiyaki, oysters and …….
There are so many delicious foods in Hiroshima that it is hard to decide what to eat when traveling there.

My wife and I traveled to Hiroshima together.
Among these various Hiroshima gourmet foods, we chose Hiroshima Tsukemen for lunch.

We will have Hiroshima tsukemen for the first time at Fujiwara Ramen, which is located not far from Peace Memorial Park.
Fujiwara Ramen also offers Onomichi Ramen and a set that includes fried oysters.

My first Hiroshima tsukemen and Onomichi ramen came with fried oysters!

After visiting the Peace Memorial Park.

By the time we left Peace Memorial Park, it was past noon, so we started walking to find a place to have lunch and soon found Fujiwara Ramen.

If you are coming from Peace Memorial Park, Fujiwara Ramen is located just across the bridge over the Motoyasu River near the “Children of the Atomic Bomb” statue.

Chicken Nanban and fried oysters in spite of being a ramen restaurant? Fujiwara Ramen’s unique menu

The restaurant was full when we decided to enter, so we had to wait a bit to get in.
There seem to be several branches, and this is the Hondori West branch.

The logo on the curtain is cute.

Inside the crowded restaurant.
Well, this is my first time eating Hiroshima Tsukemen. I took a look at the menu at …….

Yes, it is different from the lineup of ramen stores in Tokyo.

Gyoza set and half fried rice set are common, but chicken katsu set and chicken nanban set are not so common. Interesting.

What I found even more appealing was this set.
Named the Onomichi Set, this set includes Onomichi Ramen as the main dish, Hiroshima Nanban Musubi, and fried oysters.

Fried oysters at a ramen restaurant is very Hiroshima-like.
So I decided to order the Onomichi set in addition to the Hiroshima tsukemen.

Hiroshima Tsukemen

This is Hiroshima tsukemen, priced at 743 yen (tax not included).
It consists of noodles with a generous amount of ingredients and a spicy looking dipping sauce.

Fujiwara Ramen” seems to be affiliated with ‘Bakudan-ya,’ which is famous for Hiroshima tsukemen.
You can choose the level of spiciness, but since it was my first time to try it, I chose the normal spiciness for beginners.

First, I took a sip, dipped the noodle in a little dipping sauce and sipped it.
Frankly speaking, it was like spicy chilled chuka-ka.

The dipping sauce is a thicker version of the chilled chuka sauce, with chili peppers and raayu added to give it a spicy flavor.
The noodles are thicker than chilled chuka noodles, giving the impression that these are tsukemen.

The chopped green onions, cabbage and cucumber on top as garnish give it a refreshing feeling.

The sauce is thick and cold, so I felt it was a little salty.
It would be better to enjoy it during the hot season.

Onomichi set (Onomichi ramen, 3 fried oysters, Hiroshima nai musubi)

Now, I greedily ordered the Onomichi set. The photo shows the main dish, Onomichi Ramen.
I had originally wanted to try Onomichi Ramen as well. We had given up on the idea of having time to go to Onomichi, but when we came across this dish, we decided to order it.

The Onomichi ramen perfectly matched our tastes as a couple.
The soy sauce-based broth full of flavor is irresistible. The noodles are thin but chewy and go well with the soup.

It was a good encounter.
Next time, I would definitely like to visit Onomichi to try it.

Here is the set of Hiroshima greens musubi and three fried oysters. This is 1,029 yen (tax not included).

What surprised me the most was the fried oysters.
They are very tasty oysters, with juices dripping from the meat as you bite into one.

I was honestly impressed by the taste of oysters at a ramen restaurant in Hiroshima.
I ate it up in no time, along with the Hiroshima green rice balls covered with Korean dried laver.

Conclusion

I was satisfied with my lunch of Hiroshima tsukemen and Onomichi ramen.
It is fun to discover new things to eat for the first time.

I was especially happy to encounter Onomichi ramen.

Next time, I would like to have it in the real place!
